Why You Need to Visit the Caribbean at Least Once in Your Life
If you’re looking for anything from laid back beach-side chilling to awesome nightlife to the perfect spot for a family vacay, look no further than the Caribbean. It has something for everyone, and you’ll have SOOO many options for best vacations in the Caribbean. Read on for the 10 top reasons to visit the Caribbean right now…I mean it, go on and book that flight!
1 | The Beaches
One of the first things that comes to mind when you think of the Caribbean are the beautiful white sand beaches. Whether you’re planning to frolic on the beach, play some volleyball, or just simply chill, these are some of the best beaches in the world!
2 | Snorkeling & Diving
Another of the top reasons to visit the Caribbean is definitely for the snorkeling and diving. It’s amazing to join the underwater world for a few hours. You can explore shipwrecks, catch sight of eels, and even befriend turtles! Hint: there are a ton in St Bart’s. For one of my fave snorkeling adventures in the Caribbean, check out snorkeling in Barbados!
3 | Beautiful accommodations
From all-inclusive resorts to beachfront cabanas, the Caribbean knows how to do luxurious accommodations. On St Bart’s, check out Hotel Les Ondines Sur La Plage with its private beach. On the island of Abaco in the Bahamas (one of my faves!), don’t miss this quaint beach house. In all honesty, I’m pretty sure you’ll be good anywhere on Abaco since the views are gorgeous and you can drive golf carts on the island. If you’d like the ease of an all-inclusive resort, Beaches Resort Villages & Spa on Turks & Caicos is an ideal choice for you. Wherever you end up, make sure you have ocean views!
4 | Diversity across Islands
Whether you’re looking for exciting nightlife, snorkeling, or a unique island culture, you can almost certainly find what you’re looking for on one of the islands. Even the landscape itself varies widely across the islands…but it’s almost always beautiful! One of my most unique adventures was exploring Harrison’s Cave on Barbados (pic below.)
5 | Endless Sunshine
It’s no secret that sunshine makes you happy, so make sure to bask in the endless sunshine of the islands! You might get a rain shower, but those will pass (unless it’s a hurricane, and then I’d recommend to run away quickly.)
P.S. the pic below is from Sandy Island off the coast of Anguilla. It my happy place; the only things on the island are a bar (yay!) and a volleyball court.
6 | Easy Access from the USA
If you’re flying from the USA, access to the Caribbean is pretty easy…especially if you’re coming from Florida like me! With a direct flight, it’s a little over an hour for me, and most of the big cities across the US will have flights down. I’d recommend searching through eDreams.net. They scan tons of different travel discount sites and feature special flight deals.
7 | Sunsets
The beautiful sunsets are definitely one of the top reasons to visit the Caribbean. If you’re not convinced, hop on this sunset cruise from St. Martin and I promise you will be! Bonus points for snacks and rum drinks while watching the sunset on a sailboat! You really just can’t beat it.
8 | The Food
Oh my goodness, I LOVE conch fritters sooooo much you don’t even understand. Yes, the US serves conch fritters, but they’re nothing like the ones you can get in the Caribbean. Aside from my mild obsession with these delicious little fritters, there’s boatloads of amazing seafood, fresh fruit, and of course, plenty of island rum! Go to town, because everyone knows calories don’t count in the Caribbean.
9 | Island Hopping
One of the perks of the Caribbean is the proximity of the islands; you can easily hop from one to the other by boat (or plane!) during the day. From St. Martin, check out Saba, an unspoiled eco-forest with rainforest hiking and world-class scuba diving. If you’re looking for a low key beach day, cruise over to Shoal Bay on Anguilla and enjoy the beautiful beaches, plus swimming, snorkeling, and a tasty Caribbean lunch.
10 | Culture
Each island has its own identity, which is part of what makes the region so appealing. Head to Barbados for the laid back island vibes, St Bart’s for the rich & famous lifestyle, and Bahamas for awesome snorkeling. My favorite of all is St. Martin, a tiny little island that is split down the middle. Half of the island is French, while the other is Dutch. The Caribbean also has plenty of festivals, so try and time your trip to coincide with one!
That about wraps up my top reasons to visit the Caribbean…now what are you waiting for? Get your butt on down there!

I was a teen the only time I visited the Caribbean on a cruise but I’d definitely like to go back for a longer period! #FeetDoTravel
Definitely! It’s fun just to do a little island hopping 🙂
I’m in Florida as well! What part are you? We travel to the Bahamas fairly frequently. Thanks for this beautiful list! There’s no place like it
I’m in the St. Pete/ Tampa area! What about you?
I am from Puerto Rico. Therefore, I can say the Caribbean is a world in itself. You are going to experience everything you have mentioned in here plus the warmth and friendliness of the people. And, let me tell you, the people in the islands make everything way better!
I️ totally agree! I️ love the attitude and friendliness in the islands 🙂
I’ve only ever been to the Dominican Republic. I’d love to see more of the Caribbean and figure out great ways to explore on a budget!
A lot of times you can find last minute flights a few weeks out! That’s how I️ got to Barbados for $150 round trip last year 🙂
Yes! The Caribbean is an amazing place. I really want to go diving there again one day.
For sure! There are so many unique places to explore there.
The Caribbean is a must place to visit and one of my places to see. Love the beaches, sunsets and scuba diving. You have all the right reasons for other travelers to take a trip there. Great photos! #feetdotravel
Thanks Stephanie! Looking at the photos makes me want to go back…like right now haha 🙂
Would love to take a trip to Caribbean even if it was just for the beaches and diving. The weather isn’t bad either!
I’m ready to go back! It’s even chilly in Florida today!
You had me at number 1. I can’t wait to check out the Caribbean
Haha glad it was so persuasive!
The Caribbean looks like a really unique place to explore. Hope I’ll have a chance to visit it more than once, I think there are so many things you can explore.
I hope you can too! I’ve been there a bunch, but there are still so many more islands I want to see
We’ve been on several cruises and honeymooned in the Caribbean. We’re only 6 hours from New Orleans which means only a short flight or cruise away from sun, fantastic food, and gorgeous beaches!
It’s so easy to pop on down when you’re there! I love taking weekend trips 🙂
I love the Caribbean, we have done a bunch of cruises, but I would love to spend more time on each island 🙂 thank you for the inspiration!
Cruises are an easy way to see a lot of different places, but I love getting to stay on the islands too 🙂
