1. Bora Bora

Bora Bora is the kind of place that looks too perfect to be real. Imagine overwater bungalows, crystal-clear water, and palm trees swaying like in the breeze. I honestly don’t know how you leave this off a list of the best vacation spots. When you’re not busy floating in pure bliss, you can jet ski around the island, snorkel with sharks, and even swim with stingrays.

2. Patagonia

Glaciers, mountains, and outdoor activities, oh my! Patagonia is one of the best vacation spots for outdoor lovers, offering everything from trekking to the Perito Moreno Glacier to kayaking down La Leona River. The sheer scale of nature here is unreal, with jagged peaks and turquoise lakes. This is one of those places where you go for the adventure and stay for the jaw-dropping scenery.

3. Hoi An, Vietnam

Hoi An has been near the top of my list of dream travel destinations for ages, and for good reason. This colorful lantern-lit town is packed with incredible food, rich history, and a countryside just waiting to be explored. I’d love to do a classic Vietnamese food tour, try my hand at basket boating, and check out the Hoi An floating market. Plus, if there’s ever a place to get custom-tailored clothing for ridiculously cheap, this is it, so I may just come home with a whole new wardrobe!

4. Lofoten Islands, Norway

When you visit the Lofoten Islands, you’ll see mountains rising up from the sea and colorful fishing villages dotting the coastline. If you visit in summer, you’ll get endless daylight for hiking, boating, and fishing, but winter is when the Northern Lights steal the show. One day, I’ll make it here, though I have no idea how to mentally prepare for a Nordic winter. I imagine it involves a lot of layers and an unreasonable amount of hot chocolate.

Recommended Stay: Nusfjord Village & Resort

5. Banff, Canada

Yes, this is where you’ll find the insanely blue waters of Lake Moraine and Lake Louise, and yes, they’re just as blue in real life. I spent a long weekend in Banff kayaking, hiking, and exploring the national parks. However, make sure you explore further than just Banff National Park. My day hiking in Yoho National Park and kayaking Emerald Lake ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip!

Recommended Stay: Fairmont Château Lake Louise

6. Cartagena, Colombia

I did a girls’ weekend in Cartagena, and this city knows how to bring the energy. Brightly colored buildings, lively music, and the scent of fresh arepas make it impossible not to fall in love. When I wasn’t wandering through the charming streets or eating my weight in tapas, I relaxed on Playa Blanca’s beaches and took a dip in the mud baths at Totumo Volcano. I’m not usually one for rolling around in the mud, but the idea of a warm, mineral-rich soak was oddly tempting and turned out to be a ton of fun!

7. Italy’s Amalfi Coast

I spent a week sailing along the Amalfi Coast, stopping in every picturesque town possible, and it was an unforgettable experience. The pastel-hued villages stacked against dramatic cliffs have made this one of Italy’s most sought-after destinations, and for good reason. Whether you’re sailing along the coast or getting lost in the narrow streets, there’s no wrong way to explore this coastline.

8. Antarctica

If there’s ever been a time to make the ultimate bucket-list trip happen, it’s now. More companies are making it possible to reach the seventh continent, meaning that watching seal pups nap on the ice and hanging out with penguins is actually doable. The landscapes here are next-level stunning, with glaciers and snow as far as the eye can see. I can only imagine how surreal it must feel watching penguins shuffle across the ice while giant glaciers tower around you.

9. Galapagos Islands, Ecuador

If wildlife encounters and untouched nature are your thing, the Galapagos should be at the top of your list. On a 5-day tour of the Galapagos, you can visit giant tortoise reserves, explore Isabela Island, snorkel with sea lions, and hike to the Sierra Negra Volcano. Whether you’re fascinated by evolution, a lover of marine life, or just want to see cool animals, this place is a must-visit destination.

10. Seychelles

If there was ever a place that looks like a screensaver come to life, it’s Seychelles. This cluster of paradise islands in the Indian Ocean is all about white-sand beaches and crystal-clear water. Snorkeling, diving, and island-hopping are the main attractions here, though just lounging under a palm tree with a fresh coconut sounds like a solid plan, too.

11. South Africa

From the rugged peaks of Table Mountain in Cape Town to the thrill of spotting lions in Kruger National Park, South Africa has skyrocketed to the top of my list of must-visit vacation destinations. I’ve been itching for another safari adventure, and from everything I’ve heard, this is one of the best places to do it. Add in world-class wineries in Stellenbosch and breathtaking coastlines along the Garden Route, and I really don’t know what more I could ask for.

Recommended Stay: Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, Cape Town

12. Bernese Oberland, Switzerland

During my first trip where I spent 3 days in Switzerland, I fell in love with Lucerne, Bern, and Interlaken, but next time, I want to venture even deeper into the quaint alpine villages. Places like Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, and Mürren look impossibly picture-perfect, complete with waterfalls, mountain chalets, and flower-covered meadows.

At the very top of my Switzerland bucket list? A glacier helicopter ride, because if I’m going to splurge on something, it might as well be soaring over the Swiss Alps. Looking for something slightly less expensive? Check out paragliding in Interlaken. I did it while I was there, and it was absolutely the highlight of my trip!

Recommended Stay: Victoria Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa

13. Cappadocia, Turkey

If there’s one place that looks like a dream come to life, it’s Cappadocia. I spent four days exploring the region, and waking up before sunrise to watch hundreds of hot air balloons drift across the sky was every bit as incredible as people say it is. Between the cave hotel and ancient underground cities, Cappadocia is one of the most unique places I’ve ever visited.

Beyond the balloon rides, I loved hiking through Love Valley and Devrent Valley, where the landscapes look like they belong on another planet. Whether you’re watching the sunset over ancient valleys or wandering through centuries-old cave dwellings, Cappadocia is one of those destinations that completely lives up to the hype.

Recommended Stay: Sultan Cave Suites

14. Chefchaouen, Morocco

The blue-washed streets of Chefchaouen had been calling my name for years, and when I finally did a road trip around Morocco, I knew I had to include it. Nestled in the Rif Mountains, this little town is every bit as blue as the Instagram photos make it look. You can choose to visit on a full day trip to Chefchaouen or stay overnight (which I highly recommend). Morocco was full of unforgettable highlights, but Chefchaouen was easily one of the most photogenic stops and clearly belongs on the list of dream travel destinations.

Recommended Stay: Riad Nila

15. Egypt

Spending eight days in Egypt felt like stepping straight into history, and every single day was packed with something incredible. I explored the pyramids of Giza, sailed down the Nile on a dahabiya, wandered through the ancient temples of Luxor and Karnak, and stood in awe at Abu Simbel’s massive statues.

The sheer scale of everything in Egypt is just mind-blowing. Between the bustling chaos of Cairo, the beauty of Aswan, and the experience of cruising down the Nile, this trip was one of the most awe-inspiring adventures I’ve ever had.

Recommended Stay: Old Cataract, Aswan

16. Grand Canyon, USA

With so many incredible places to visit abroad, it’s easy to forget about the breathtaking landscapes right here in the USA, and the Grand Canyon is at the top of my list of dream travel destinations. One of my future adventures is to go white-water rafting through the canyon, but I suppose I’d also settle for exploring the South Rim and soaking in the views. Watching the canyon change colors at sunrise and sunset is supposed to be one of those moments that you’ll never forget.

Recommended Stay: The Grand Hotel at the Grand Canyon

17. Costa Rica

Trying to narrow down one place to visit in Costa Rica feels impossible because there are too many incredible things to do. You can spot sloths at Manuel Antonio National Park, horseback ride through the Cloud Forest, or go on an all-out adventure around the Arenal Volcano. This country is an adventure lover’s dream, but for me, it’s extra special because my husband proposed at Rio Celeste, one of the most beautiful turquoise waterfalls I’ve ever seen. Needless to say, Costa Rica has a permanent spot in my heart (and my future travel plans).

Recommended Stay: Hotel Arenal Springs Resort & Spa

18. St. John, USVI

If you’re looking for a Caribbean paradise without needing a passport (and you are a U.S. citizen), St. John is calling your name. It’s the smallest of the US Virgin Islands, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in pristine beaches, beautiful water, and some of the best snorkeling in the Caribbean.

For the ultimate Caribbean adventure, we spent a week bareboating around St. John and St. Thomas, anchoring in calm bays and hopping between beaches. Some of my favorite moments were the simplest ones: snorkeling off the back of the boat, watching sailboats drift at sunset, and ending every day with dinner overlooking the water.

Recommended Stay: Marriott’s Frenchman’s Cove

19. Havana, Cuba

My ideal trip to Cuba would start with wandering through the colorful streets of Old Havana, taking in the pastel colors and vibrant architecture. Of course, a ride in a vintage car is a must. I’d also love to escape the city and explore Viñales Valley, known for its lush landscapes and tobacco farms. On my first trip, I spent three days in and around Havana, and if you’re looking for a mix of history and culture, I’d highly recommend it.

20. Uyuni Salt Flats, Bolivia

The photos of Uyuni Salt Flats honestly look unreal, and seeing that mirror-like reflection after a rainstorm is high on my list of dream travel destinations (although exploring in dry season seems a bit more pleasant weather-wise). But Bolivia has way more to offer than just the salt flats. You can also explore La Paz, with its crazy cable cars and high-altitude vibes, and Isla del Sol, an island on Lake Titicaca known for its Incan sites.

Recommended Stay: Hotel Palacio de Sal

21. Petra, Jordan

If ancient wonders and epic landscapes are your thing, add Petra to your list of dream vacation destinations. Known for its rock-carved architecture and the famous Treasury, this site is just as incredible in person as it looks in photos. Pair it with a jeep tour through Wadi Rum’s dramatic desert landscapes, a float in the Dead Sea, and a cultural tour of Jerash, and you’ve got the perfect Jordan itinerary.

Recommended Stay: Mövenpick Resort Petra

22. Khao Sok, Thailand

Khao Sok National Park is one of Thailand’s best-kept secrets, and I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about it. Picture towering limestone cliffs, floating bungalows, and a jungle so lush it looks straight out of Jurassic Park (minus the dinosaurs, hopefully). I spent a few days here kayaking through emerald-green waters, spotting wildlife on boat safaris, and swimming right off my bungalow’s porch. This is the perfect spot for an adventure that feels totally off the grid but still lets you sleep in a cute floating villa!

Recommended Stay: 500 Rai Floating Resort

23. Great Barrier Reef, Australia

The Great Barrier Reef is one of those places that is a must-see at least once in a lifetime. Head to Cairns, where you can choose between snorkeling, scuba diving, or taking a scenic catamaran cruise over the world’s largest coral reef system. Or, if you’re feeling extra adventurous, you can do what I have at the top of my list: bungee jumping!

Recommended Stay: Shangri-La The Marina, Cairns

24. Machu Picchu, Peru

Hiking the classic Machu Picchu trail always hits the top of the list of dream travel destinations, and Rainbow Mountain is also high up there for me, as well. But let’s be honest…half the fun of visiting Peru is befriending llamas and getting the ultimate llama selfie. Beyond Machu Picchu, I’d love to explore the Moray salt mines and soak in hot springs. Peru is a country that mixes history, nature, and jaw-dropping scenery all in one trip.

Recommended Stay: Sanctuary Lodge, A Belmond Hotel, Machu Picchu

25. Iceland’s Ring Road

Full disclosure: I’ve already been to Iceland once, and l absolutely loved it. I spent my 4 day itinerary around Iceland exploring Reykjavik, the Golden Circle, the Blue Lagoon, and Iceland’s South Coast, but that only scratched the surface. Next time, I’m renting a car and driving the entire Ring Road. At the very top of my list? Jökulsárlón’s floating icebergs and the crystal ice caves, because they honestly look like they belong on the cover of a travel magazine.

Recommended Stay: Umi Hotel (Iceland’s South Coast)

26. Santorini, Greece

Santorini is on just about everyone’s list of dream travel destinations, and for good reason. The whitewashed buildings, famous blue domes, and sparkling Mediterranean views are just as perfect as you could hope for. I spent a week in Greece split between Paros and Santorini, and honestly, it wasn’t enough. I will absolutely be returning for more Greek island hopping! My perfect few days in Santorini include exploring a volcano, wine tasting at a local vineyard, and capping it off with a sunset cruise.

Recommended Stay: Cavo Tagoo Santorini

27. Tanzania

Tanzania is calling your name if you’re looking for wildlife encounters. I spent a week on safari here, and it was better than I could have ever hoped for. Every single day felt like a scene from a nature documentary, so much so that I didn’t even mind the 6AM wakeups!

A safari in the Serengeti means watching the Great Migration, spotting the Big Five, and relaxing with a sundowner after a long day of lion sightings. The Ngorongoro Crater is another must-see. This ancient volcanic caldera is packed with wildlife and surrounded by some of the most stunning scenery in Africa.

Recommended Stay: Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge

28. Oman

Oman was one of those places that surprised me in the best way. In Muscat, we wandered through the renowned Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and sipped afternoon tea at Al Bustan Palace. We snorkeled with sea turtles at the Daymaniyat Islands (one of the best wildlife experiences I’ve had) and hiked to a hidden waterfall at Wadi Shab. But the real highlight? Sleeping under the stars in Wahiba Sands in our desert dome and waking up to sunrise over the dunes.

No trip to Oman would be complete without driving into the mountains. We wandered the streets of Nizwa and checked out the famous fort before heading up to Al Jabal al Akhdar, where cooler temps and dramatic canyon views made for the perfect escape. If you love road trips, desert landscapes, and epic hikes mixed with luxury hotels and great food, Oman is one of the top dream travel destinations in the world.

29. European Christmas Markets

Between the mulled wine, twinkling lights, and cozy stalls, the European Christmas markets are what holiday dreams are made of. I especially loved the small-town charm of Regensburg, Germany, the palace markets of Vienna, and Budapest, where you can soak in the thermal baths after browsing the markets. Each city puts its own spin on the festivities, and let’s be real, I was there for the snacks as much as the sights.

There’s just something about wandering cobblestone streets with a chocolate-covered pretzel in one hand and a glühwein in the other. I loved the festive atmosphere, the chance to pick up unique gifts, and the excuse to drink hot chocolate at all hours of the day. Whether you hit one city or plan a full Christmas market trip via riverboat like we did, it’s the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.

30. Malta

This tiny Mediterranean island is packed with history, beautiful coastlines, and little towns. The capital, Valletta, is full of atmospheric streets and local gems, while the Blue Lagoon’s waters honestly look photoshopped. For something a little different, you can take a wine tour, explore ancient ruins, or hop on a fun party cruise. Malta may be small, but it definitely knows how to make a big impression.
